Ann Chapman enjoyed a seamless transition from her home of 35 years to Eagle’s Trace, thanks in part to moving resources available through Erickson Realty and Moving Services.

Ann Chapman’s home of 35 years in Houston’s Lakeside Estates neighborhood was filled with memories.

“It was a great place to raise my children,” says Ann. “We lived on a cul de sac and had wonderful neighbors, but I was also beginning to realize that it was time to move. I was tired of keeping up a house.”

At first Ann considered a move to a patio home in Fairfield, where her daughter lives. But the thought lingered that she’d need to move again should her health care needs change in the future.

“I had friends living at Eagle’s Trace [the Erickson Living community in West Houston] who were very happy,” says Ann. “I liked the idea that I wouldn’t have to move again if I ever need additional care.”

Making a plan

In Spring 2016, Ann joined the priority list at Eagle’s Trace, putting down a fully refundable $1,000 deposit to reserve the floor plan of her choice.

“Amarillo Terrace was under construction, and I decided to wait for a new apartment,” she says.

Amarillo Terrace is the newest residence building at Eagle’s Trace. It opened in October 2016, adding 108 apartment homes to the community.

Ann selected a two-bedroom, two-bath, first floor Lucchese-style floor plan with a screened-in patio overlooking the rose garden.

“I was glad to have several months to downsize before I moved,” says Ann. “It gave me the opportunity to consider what I was going to bring with me.”

Referrals to moving professionals

Ann worked with Haven Benoit, personal moving consultant at Eagle’s Trace, to determine furniture placement in her new apartment. Benoit also provided a list of Erickson Living-preferred vendors, including senior move managers, real estate agents, and moving companies.

“I chose Tender Transitions to pack up my things and unpack them in my new apartment,” says Ann.

She also listed her home with real estate agent Sandie Parker.

“I listed my home in August 2016, and the first couple who walked through the house bought it,” says Ann.

With the move behind her, Ann says the transition was easier than she imagined.

“All I had to do was come in and start living,” she says. “It was a very easy move.”
