When Kathy and George Wilson grew tired of the routine maintenance and headaches that came with living in their Carney townhouse, they made good on their plan to start living worry-free at Oak Crest.

“It was getting to be too much upkeep for us,” says Kathy. “I had to go up and down three flights of stairs just to do the laundry, and George was always worried about all of the things that had to be done around the house.”

After joining Oak Crest’s priority list, Kathy and George were eager to get the ball rolling. Oak Crest Sales Counselor Kelly Friend helped them find an apartment that checked off every box on their wish list, and Personal Moving Consultant Ashley Ruth assisted with downsizing and planning for their new home.

“Kelly helped us every step of the way, and we never felt pressured or pushed into anything,” says Kathy. “Ashley came out to our house and measured all of our furniture and helped us determine which furniture would fit where in our new apartment. In the end we were able to bring everything we wanted.”

More than enough space

Kathy and George selected a two-bedroom floor plan and use their second bedroom as a den.

“We have all the space we need and I like having everything on one level,” says Kathy. “If something breaks in the apartment, we just call General Services and someone comes out free of charge.”

In just eight months, Kathy and George have already begun taking advantage of their newfound freedom. They both joined the on-site fitness center and volunteer as resident ambassadors.

“We love it here!” says Kathy. “It’s like being on a cruise. George used to be really shy, but since we have been here, he’s really come out of his shell. I listen to him tell others about Oak Crest, and I said to him, ‘You’ve really been praising this place.’ He tells me, ‘I’m so happy you talked me into moving here.’”
