When Gail Museles and her partner Ron Silber moved to Devonshire last year, she relied on a Devonshire-recommended senior move managing company to help with downsizing and do all of their packing and unpacking.

On the list of stressful life events, moving ranks near the top. But that wasn’t the case for Gail Museles when she and her partner Ron Silber moved to Devonshire at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens.

Their choice of a spacious two-bedroom, two-bath Dalton apartment home, which boasts an open layout with a sunny breakfast nook, a private den, and a convenient storage room, and is located on the ground floor, simplified their move. Measuring nearly 2,000 square feet, the Dalton is only slightly smaller than their condo on the beach in Jupiter.

The floor plan was also similar, so the couple’s furniture fit perfectly.

Expert advice

But the main reason for their stress-free move was that Gail used Devonshire-recommended senior move managing company, Senior Transitions Solutions, Inc., one of Erickson Realty and Moving Services’ trusted resources.

Gail liked company president Karen Harvey immediately. “We bonded, and I trusted her opinions and advice,” Gail says.

Gail had been a Navy wife for 20 years, and because her late husband had been a senior officer, she’d led a formal lifestyle.

Her kitchen accoutrements included a vast collection of the dinnerware, serving pieces, and implements required to host elegant functions and entertain large groups of high-level guests.

“The formal entertaining side of my life needed the most downsizing,” says Gail. “Karen had the right perception [of my life now]. She asked the right questions. Many times she’d say, ‘Gail, are you sure you really need this?’”

Sometimes, Gail followed Harvey’s advice, as when she cleaned out her closets. But not always.

For instance, Gail brought her entire drawer of pots and pans to Devonshire. As of last December she’d used only one skillet. With five distinct restauants to choose from, who needs pots and pans?

“The longer I’ve been here the more I’ve realized that Karen was right,” she says. “Fortunately, I have enough room here for everything I brought, but I still brought too much.”

After the sorting, Senior Transitions Solutions boxed up and removed the things Gail was giving away.

Then a team of four, including Harvey, packed up what was going to Devonshire. Gail sat in a chair and guided the packing. She didn’t have to bend over and pack a thing.

On moving day the team unpacked, put everything away, and removed the boxes.

“It was the best investment I’ve ever made,” Gail says of her life at Devonshire.

Not too big, not too small, but just right

The Dalton floor plan that Gail Museles and Ron Silber share at Devonshire ideally suits their lifestyle.

Its first-floor location and accompanying terrace make it convenient to take their dog for walks. Their seventh-floor condo in Jupiter required trips on an elevator.

And Devonshire’s apartment homes are spacious. Considered the largest independent living apartments in southeast Florida, they’re also renowned for their expansive closets.

Gail uses the two walk-in closets in the master bedroom. Ron uses the walk-in closet in the second bedroom, which does double duty as his office and guest room.

A seamless flow of space from the foyer through the dining room, living room, breakfast room, and terrace seems made for entertaining.

And the den—Gail’s sitting room—lets her display memorabilia from her former life and her late husband’s career.
