Over the next few weeks, you may notice “For Sale” signs popping up in your neighborhood alongside the spring flowers. In most parts of the country, spring is the busiest time of year for home sales. The weather is warmer, houses look their best, and buyers are eager to settle before the start of the school year. Finding the right real estate agent is key to your selling success.

What should I look for when choosing a real estate agent?

Choosing a real estate agent is a bit like choosing a doctor. Ultimately, you’re looking to build a relationship with an experienced professional who makes you feel comfortable and confident. I recommend interviewing at least two to three agents and asking the following questions:

• How many years have you worked as an agent?

• Is this your full-time job?

• How well do you know my neighborhood?

• How many current and sold listings do you have in my area?

• Will you share an example of your negotiating skills?

• How do you plan on marketing my property?

• Will you use a professional photographer since pictures are so critical?

Remember to always ask for references, and be sure to call one or two.

How can Erickson Living help?

Each Erickson Living community has a unique program to simplify your move every step of the way—that includes connecting you with one of our preferred real estate agents. We only recommend experienced agents who have local knowledge and, often, proven success rates with our residents. In fact, a wonderful couple that I’ve been working with at my community in Pennsylvania, Maris Grove, just recently sold their house in record time and for their asking price—all with the help of a preferred real estate agent.

My fellow personal moving consultants and I are here to help you too!
