A move with ‘no glitches’
Dr. Richard (Dick) Marburger, who is a former president of Lawrence Technological University, moved from a detached condo in Farmington Hills, Mich., to Fox Run in early 2015. He says the large condo no longer fit his lifestyle.
“I had 4,500 square feet of space, and I was living in a small fraction of that,” he says.
Dick and his late wife were married for 60 years and lived in their condo since the early 1990s, so they had amassed quite a few possessions. But Dick says his move to Fox Run in Novi, Mich., went off without a hitch—thanks to the help of the community’s staff and trusted vendors.
As a prospective Fox Run resident, Dick didn’t have to go it alone. He had access to Erickson Realty and Moving Services, a special program that offers complimentary coordination of all realty and moving needs, including downsizing, home staging, packing, and selection of a real estate professional. Dick worked directly with Fox Run Personal Moving Consultant Kristine Kluge, who helped him choose a real estate agent, hire a moving company, and decide which pieces of furniture to keep.
“Kristine came to the house, and made sure every ‘t’ was crossed, and every ‘i’ was dotted,” Dick says. “It was really smooth—there were no hiccups and no glitches.”
Dick’s children took some of the furniture and household items their dad decided not to bring to Fox Run, and he donated other items. Through Erickson Realty and Moving Services, Dick received an allowance to spend on moving expenses, and he worked with a trusted company that has helped many other Fox Run residents with their moves.
“The whole procedure was so perfectly thought through, I couldn’t help but be impressed,” Dick says.
At Fox Run, Dick selected a Dover-style apartment home, which has one bedroom, one bathroom, and a balcony that faces east and lets in plenty of bright morning sun. Dick says his new home is handsomely decorated with granite counters, new stainless steel appliances, and a custom shower. Dick particularly likes the location of his apartment home because it provides convenient access to Fox Run’s on-site convenience store, fitness center, bank, and other amenities.
“I live now in 830 elegant square feet of space,” Dick says. “This place is absolutely perfect.”
