Devonshire Personal Moving Consultant Lori Hampton.

Lori Hampton started her dream job last fall at Devonshire at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens when she joined its sales staff as a personal moving consultant.

Several years ago, when Hampton saw first-hand how her parents made the move to maintenance-free senior living, she realized that she wanted to help people discover the benefits of choosing to move when you’re independent and can enjoy the amenities of these communities.

Hampton also realized she wanted to work at Devonshire at PGA National. She’d toured it when her parents were researching their retirement options, and until 2015, she’d lived just across the street in Ryder Cup Villas.

Hampton brings ideal credentials to her new position. Her previous responsibilities in property management involved helping residential and commercial clients relocate into appropriate apartments or office space.

“I provided them with resources for downsizing, for moving companies, for whatever they needed,” she says. “Most of my vendor referrals were for my residential clients.”

She’s doing the same thing now for people preparing to move to Devonshire. And she loves it.

“The spirit of the community members and staff every single day is wonderful,” Hampton says. “I can’t wait to get to work each morning.”

When she learned about the Devonshire position, Hampton researched Erickson Living. It impressed her that the company managed nineteen different communities.

She was also impressed by the company’s financial commitment to restore Devonshire as the crown jewel of senior living communities in Southeast Florida.

Learning how Erickson Living values its residents and also its employees underscored for her its reputation as a leader in the industry.

Clients come first

Hampton’s experience with her parents has made her well aware of prospective Devonshire community members’ concerns about downsizing and moving.

“They should know that I’m here to support them,” Hampton says. “And if they have no family in the area, they’ll have me for support.”

Her services, available to Devonshire’s priority list members through Erickson Realty and Moving Services, include referrals to preferred partners such as downsizers, appraisers, packers, real estate professionals, and moving companies.

During complimentary home visits, she creates personalized floor plans to help people decide what furniture to bring.

And she stays in touch throughout every move to monitor its progress.

“I’m there every step of the way,” she says, “following up to make sure there have been house showings and that the vendors are providing good service.”

Whether people move from a neighborhood in PGA National or a city up north, Hampton can offer advice and assistance.

For those out-of-state house sales and moves, if the location is near another Erickson Living community, she’ll team with that community’s personal moving consultant to simplify the move.

When Hampton isn’t helping future Devonshire members, she’s likely pursuing outdoor activities. She loves the beach and enjoys golfing, hiking, and cycling.

Hampton and her husband’s blended family include five children and four grandchildren.
