Construction continues on schedule for Ashby Ponds’ newest residence building, Cherry Blossom Square.

Late last year, Ashby Ponds, an Erickson Living community in Ashburn, Va., announced the construction of its tenth residence building, Cherry Blossom Square, the first new construction project in more than 18 months. Cherry Blossom Square is now more than 90% sold out and will open by year’s end.

In an effort to meet growing demands for the community located in Loudoun County, the most rapidly growing county in the nation, Ashby Ponds is pleased to announce the construction of two additional residence buildings, Birch Point and Cypress Ridge, scheduled to open in early 2018.

“We are thrilled to be able to meet the strong demand for the Ashby Ponds lifestyle with an additional 273 new apartment homes as a result of these three new residence buildings,” says Ashby Ponds Executive Director Craig Karczmer. “Since opening Magnolia Place in August 2015, we’ve been carefully planning for future construction in a way that meets the needs of our current residents, those looking to move in the short term, as well as future residents.”

Careful planning

In July 2016, Ashby Ponds conducted a survey of current residents and members of the community’s 1,000-person priority list to find out exactly what people enjoy most about their Ashby Ponds home. Participants were also asked to suggest innovations and additions for future construction.

“We listened carefully to what people said,” says Director of Sales Holly Henderson. “As a result, each of the three new buildings will offer six new, large-size apartment floor plans; additional options in home finishes; and close proximity to dining venues and recreational space.”

All of the 116 new homes in Cherry Blossom Square, the 77 new homes in Birch Point, and the 80 new homes in Cypress Ridge will also feature amenities already popular at Ashby Ponds, including spacious, open layouts; modern kitchens with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances; full-size, side-by-side washers and dryers; walk-in closets; and custom flooring and light fixtures. Convenient under-building parking is also available.

Each new apartment home will be easily accessible to both Great Oak Clubhouse and Cardinal Clubhouse via climate-controlled walkways. Inside the clubhouses, community members have access to the on-site medical center, fitness and aquatics center, performing arts theater, day spa, classrooms, computer lab, and art studio.

Something new on the menu

As a result of the new construction, Ashby Ponds will add two more dining options to the five restaurants already popular on campus for providing a wide range of healthy, delicious meals.

Birch Point will feature a pub-style restaurant, and Cypress Ridge will provide signature dining at a new full-service restaurant.

“These new dining additions are also the result of demand and survey results,” says Henderson. “The pub-style dining option meets the needs of those looking for a fun, social atmosphere to enjoy a quick meal, happy hour, or an afternoon of football on large-screen televisions. Our other new restaurant will provide guests with both cooked-to-order selections prepared from a fixed seasonal menu and a variety of chef specials.”

New options

In addition to Ashby Pond’s most popular floor plans, each of the new buildings will offer six new floor plans, meeting demand for space, design, storage, and functionality.

“During our pause in construction, we carefully looked at the style and design of our most sought-after apartment homes,” says Henderson. “These six new floor plans bring together our most popular design options. In fact, to date, all of the new floor plans are completely sold out in Cherry Blossom Square.”

Three of the new apartment floor plans, the Madison, the Potomac, and the Landon boast utility rooms in addition to large walk-in closets. These designs meet the market demand for more storage space for clothes, suitcases, holiday decorations, and golf clubs.

“We’ve also taken note of what our community members like best about their current apartment homes,” says Henderson. “As a result, five of our new residence buildings will feature numerous apartment designs with large bay windows, sunrooms, and porches.”

“Our porch is one of the features we like best about our apartment home,” says Kathleen Russell. “My husband Wallace and I enjoy sitting outside and enjoying our beautiful surroundings.”

Next steps

Since first announcing the construction of Cherry Blossom Square last year, hundreds of people each month are scheduling appointments and joining the priority list in the hopes of reserving one of these sought-after, new homes.

“This is an exciting year at Ashby Ponds,” says Henderson. “The number of people visiting our campus eager to learn more illustrates that our new construction has come at just the right time. When we introduced Magnolia Place in late 2014, the new homes sold out mere weeks after construction was announced. We anticipate the same for our newest additions. Word of mouth is a powerful force. Our community members love living here, and they continue to spread the word with family and friends.

“I encourage anyone considering a future at Ashby Ponds to schedule a visit and see firsthand the exciting changes taking place at our community each day,” Henderson adds. “There’s never any pressure, just a great opportunity to discover why so many people wish to call Ashby Ponds home.”
