Now closer to both her children and grandchildren, Elaine Wienholt enjoys a wonderful new life at Ashby Ponds.

For the last 13 years, Elaine Wienholt lived in a condo at Ellicott Hills, a small 55-plus community outside of Baltimore, Md. Her life changed forever when she accompanied her friend (and son-in-law’s mother), who was selecting her new home at Ashby Ponds

“I fell in love with the atmosphere and many activities,” she says. “I also liked how close it was to our children and grandchildren.”

Elaine was so impressed that she decided to join the Ashby Ponds priority list.  In fact, rather than waiting for the completion of construction on a new residence building on campus, she selected an existing one-bedroom Holden-style apartment home.

“As soon as I put down my deposit I met Personal Moving Consultant Elizabeth McCumiskey,” she says. “She came to Baltimore to visit my condo and was very helpful. We went through my house room by room, measuring everything I wished to take with me. We then laid it out together on a scaled drawing of my apartment to see how it would all fit together.”

McCumisky also put Elaine in touch with a preferred real estate agent with experience helping people move to Ashby Ponds.

Good advice

“My real estate agent advised that I would be better off moving first and then preparing the condo for sale,” she says. “I moved to Ashby Ponds on November 29, 2016, while my real estate agent supervised the update of the condo and quickly got it on the market.”

McCumisky also provided Elaine with a referral for movers and a company to help with packing and downsizing.

“They were wonderful,” says Elaine. “I especially enjoyed the help packing and donating items I wasn’t taking to various charities. With Elizabeth’s help I was also able to bring my big sewing machine and am now giving sewing lessons to an 8-year-old girl whose mother is a friend of my daughters.”

Elaine and her cat Sweetie are now thoroughly enjoying their new life at Ashby Ponds. She’s joined a book group, participates in a weekly art class, and is learning to play mah-jongg.

“I would definitely recommend Elizabeth to anyone moving to Ashby Ponds,” she says.
