About 60 guests recently joined Tallgrass Creek neighbors and sales team staff to hear about and review colorful schematics of Hummingbird Square, the Overland Park, Kans., community’s new residence building scheduled for completion later this year.

The first-time visitors saw for themselves some of the amenities on Tallgrass Creek’s 62,000-square-foot campus, including the medical center with on-site physicians and staff, all-season swimming pool, fitness center, library, activity spaces, full-service hair and nail salon, Sunflower Bistro, and newly designed Marketplace.

Additionally, guests could tour model apartment homes in Meadowlark Terrace, the residence building that opened in 2015.

After tours, guests took their seats in the spacious Blue Sky Restaurant and enjoyed a tasty lunch of red pepper and Gouda bisque, a choice of lemon-butter salmon or braised pot roast, red bliss potatoes, and seasonal garden vegetables, all topped off with old-fashioned chocolate cake.

Tallgrass Creek community members lunched alongside visitors to answer their questions about downsizing, moving, and everyday life at Tallgrass Creek.

Hummingbird Square will be the fourth residence building at Tallgrass Creek, one of 19 retirement communities managed by Erickson Living. The four-story building features 108 new apartment homes with 18 different designs and will connect via a climate-controlled walkway to Tallgrass Creek’s Bluebird Crossing residence building.

“Word has definitely spread, and residences at Hummingbird Square are selling quickly,” says Sales Associate Sue LaBelle. “With completion still several months away, future residents are excited they can select the floor plan, location, and customized finishes they want for their new home.”
