“Leaving a house where you’ve lived for more than 20 years is a difficult undertaking, but the help Ann Greves, Greenspring’s personal moving consultant, provides is indispensable,” says Bob Clark who moved last October with his wife Marie from their house in Mount Vernon to Greenspring in Springfield, Va. “The help Anna and her team provide goes a long way in making it not only manageable but a positive experience.”

Prior to moving to Greenspring, the Clarks joined the priority list, visiting the campus numerous times. They attended a variety of special events including an open house where they met Greves.

“She explained how she could help us, and it was clear she had a wonderful team that would help facilitate our move,” says Marie.

Once the couple was ready, Greves visited them in their house and provided recommendations on real estate agents and movers, all of whom have experience moving people to Greenspring.

In order to sell their house quickly and for their desired price, the Clarks first chose one of Greves’ recommended real estate agents.

“He made suggestions on things we could do to help sell our house quickly and then found a team of people to do the work,” says Bob.

The couple focused on cosmetic but impactful updates to their house, including applying a fresh coat of paint and refinishing their hardwood floors.

Team effort

With the details of their home sale in the capable hands of their agent, the Clarks turned to the monumental tasks of downsizing, packing, and moving their belongings. They again looked to members of Greves’ team for help.

“We really didn’t want to do all the work by ourselves,” says Marie. “We felt it would be too stressful. The recommended downsizing company did wonderful work helping us donate, auction off, and dispose of the things we no longer needed.”

In October 2016, Bob and Marie moved into their two-bedroom, two-bath, Jackson-style apartment home. Together they’ve joined the ballroom dancing group. Enjoying the opportunity to perform, Marie sings with the choir and Bob recently performed with the Greenspring Players.

“We are very pleased with our decision to move to Greenspring and very thankful to Anna for making that move as stress-free as possible,” says Bob.
