‘Natural leader’

Fox Run’s finance director named leader of the year

Finance Director Greg Meehan was named Fox Run’s leader of the year for 2016.

A large part of the reason Fox Run is such a great place to live is because management takes great care in hiring employees who are the best of the best—whether they are heading up the marketing department, serving entrees in one of the on-site restaurants, or providing medical care for the people who live at Fox Run.

One member of the staff was singled out this year for his exceptional leadership. Finance Director Greg Meehan was named Fox Run’s leader of the year at Erickson Living’s annual meeting in Baltimore, Md.

Michael McCormick, Fox Run’s executive director, describes Meehan as an out-of-the-box thinker and a “natural teacher” who enjoys helping others succeed. McCormick says Meehan keeps his eye on the big picture, while also digging down into the details.

“Greg often makes connections between complex concepts and brings creative ideas to the table,” McCormick says. “Greg’s leadership has helped Fox Run achieve its strongest financial year ever in 2016.”

Strong background

Meehan joined Fox Run as director of finance in 2013. Prior to that, he served as senior vice president with Lee Hecht Harrison, a global career transition and leadership development organization, where he was responsible for operations of the central region of the United States.

As a CPA, he previously worked as an auditor with Plante and Moran and as controller for an IT staffing company.

He graduated from Michigan State University and has an extensive background in systems and technology.

For Meehan, working at Fox Run isn’t just about crunching numbers and overseeing the community’s finances. He also hosts a weekly sports show on Fox Run’s in-house television station, and he likes to get out of his office to interact with residents and fellow staff members.

Meehan says his job allows him to embrace both the business and social sides of his personality.

“As the finance director, obviously I enjoy the financial aspect of helping drive the financial performance of our community and being good stewards of residents’ money,” Meehan says. “The finance office is located in a residence building, and having apartment homes directly across the hallway is a daily reminder that we work in our residents’ home. It is a different environment than I have ever worked and makes Fox Run a very special place to come to work every day.”
