Regardless of where you move from to Maris Grove, Erickson Living’s retirement community in Delaware County, Pa., its sales staff, including Personal Moving Consultant Suzanne McAllister, can help simplify your move.

Arlyne Goldberg moved this January from White Plains, N.Y., to be closer to her daughter, who lives nearby in Malvern, Pa.

Streamlined plan of action

“The sales staff was extremely patient, helpful, and caring,” she says. Arlyne and McAllister communicated via Internet to replicate in Arlyne’s new one-bedroom Brighton-style apartment home the arrangement she’d had in her two-bedroom co-op.

Arlyne posted photos of her co-op online for McAllister and emailed measurements of the furnishings and art she wanted to bring to Maris Grove. She also provided detailed information about her clothing so McAllister could customize her closet for maximum efficiency.

“Suzy said that everything I wanted would be accommodated at Maris Grove,” says Arlyne.

She ordered closet units and kitchen shelf units at The Container Store in White Plains and had them delivered to a branch near Maris Grove.

She told McAllister her desired paint colors and window treatments, and McAllister relayed them to Maris Grove’s Design Center to accomplish.

Arlyne used one of McAllister’s preferred partners, a Philadelphia-area company that moves many of Maris Grove’s incoming residents. “Firpo-Heritage Moving & Storage is to be highly recommended,” she says.

Within two days of moving, Arlyne and her daughter had opened and put away everything but her paintings. Maris Grove’s maintenance crew hung the paintings for her at her expense.

Because she’d reestablished her White Plains’ arrangement, “My cherished possessions were here,” Arlyne says.

She felt at home, and her three children enthusiastically approved her move.

Healthy, active, and energetic, Arlyne immediately adapted to Maris Grove’s lifestyle. She patronizes the campus fitness center and is vice president of Maris Grove’s Jewish community.

Arlyne walks outside when the weather is nice. When it’s not, she walks inside through bridges and hallways that connect Maris Grove’s three neighborhoods.

An award-winning ballroom dancer, Arlyne did line dancing and the rhumba in Maris Grove’s Follies recent production, and she’s continuing her passion for Argentine Tango at a studio in nearby Media.

“Maris Grove was a wise decision,” she says.
