Windsor Run is pleased to announce George Comfort as the community’s first executive director. In this role, he will provide overall operational leadership for the 60-acre campus. Since 2014, Comfort served as the associate executive director of Ann’s Choice, an Erickson Living community located in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pa.

Prior to joining Erickson Living, Comfort was the executive director of NorthBay, LLC, in North East, Md., one of the largest and most innovative residential environmental education centers in the nation.

“Having worked for both medium-size and Fortune 500 companies, George has a well-rounded background in business as well as the nonprofit sector,” says Kerry Jones, vice president of corporate operations for Erickson Living. “His strong executive experience is complemented by his broad resume in large account sales and marketing. He even completed a two-year international assignment living and working in Europe.”

Jones adds, “Most importantly, at Ann’s Choice, George is helping our residents live better lives and our employees achieve professional excellence in a mission-based environment. We are excited that he is bringing his enthusiasm, expertise, and caring spirit to do the same at Windsor Run in Matthews.”

Comfort holds an M.A. degree in management of aging services from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and a B.S. degree in computer science and math from Vanderbilt University. He is one course shy of an M.A. in counseling from the University of Cincinnati. He serves on the board of directors for NorthBay, a nonprofit organization that devotes its resources to underserved students from the mid-Atlantic region.

“Erickson Living communities have so much to offer and I am very excited to be able to share the vibrant lifestyle of our communities with the residents in the Charlotte area,” says Comfort.

Making the move

Like all of the new community members moving to Windsor Run next year, George and his wife Jennifer recently moved from their home in Pennsylvania to the Charlotte area.

We both grew up in the south and are very excited to return,” says George. “All of Jennifer’s family live in North Carolina, so there is the added bonus of being near family, as well as friends we haven’t seen in many years. We are thrilled to return to such a warm, friendly, and familiar place.”
