Elaine and Henry Nydam have moved several times throughout their marriage, but they say the easiest move was the latest—to Cedar Crest, an Erickson Living community.

When it comes to moving, you can find apps that will keep you organized through packing, painting, and even making new friends.

But how do you keep all those apps organized? And what happens if you’re not app or tech savvy?

Cedar Crest Personal Moving Consultant Anne Connor is like your own walking, talking resource of all the apps out there related to moving and decorating. With a deeply personal touch, she recommends trusted real estate agents, movers, senior move managers, and other vendors.

One-stop shop

Connor visits people interested in moving to Cedar Crest in their current home to learn exactly how they use their space and find the perfect apartment style at the Erickson Living community in Pompton Plains, N.J.

She helps with room design, furniture placement, and downsizing.

And not only does Connor give people moving to Cedar Crest a list of trusted resources, she also gives them peace of mind.

Elaine and Henry Nydam, who have moved several times throughout their marriage, only recently discovered a moving secret they wished they had known sooner.

“We had never had our furniture plan done before. It made things much less stressful,” Elaine says.

She’s referring to the furniture plan Connor created for them as part of Erickson Realty and Moving Services.

“She was able to determine what would actually fit [in our new home],” Elaine says.

She and Henry met with Connor before putting their house on the market, then Connor stayed in touch with them throughout the selling and moving process to ensure everything was going smoothly and on schedule.

“It is never too soon to create a plan of action,” says Connor. “When I meet with you in your home, I can assist you with downsizing and discuss my vetted top-producing preferred real estate agents.”

Connor says it’s all very informal—no need to tidy up before her arrival. And she leaves a list of next steps and vendor resources’ contact information so her clients feel prepared and at ease with the moving process.

“It was a very positive experience,” says Elaine.

A few favorite things

Like Henry and Elaine, Loretta Mora found Connor’s miniature floor plan invaluable.

Loretta knew she could bring her two favorite pieces—two end tables that had belonged to her mother-in-law and that her late husband had refinished—and exactly where she would put them in her new home. They fit perfectly in the living area on either side of her sofa.

“They were special to take with me,” Loretta says. “It was comforting to work with Anne before I moved to see where my furniture would go in my new apartment.”

Aside from assisting with furniture layout and downsizing, Connor also helped Loretta choose a real estate agent, Margaret Gallagher with Berkshire Hathaway.

“It would have been much, much, much harder without Anne’s help,” Loretta says. “She made moving easier.”
