Tom and Katherine Aubin moved to Eagle’s Trace in late 2016, using resources available through Erickson Realty and Moving Services.

In the spring of 2016, Tom and Katherine Aubin attended a Lenten supper at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Houston, Tex.

The couple was seated with Jack and Fran Gleeson, who live at an Erickson Living community in West Houston, Eagle’s Trace

“Jack made a comment that resonated with me,” says Tom. “He told us that if we were considering a move to Eagle’s Trace, we should do it while we’re in good health and able to enjoy all the community has to offer.”

Following the dinner, Tom and Katherine scheduled a visit to the West Houston community, where they saw a new residence building, Amarillo Terrace, under construction and scheduled to open later that year. They reserved a two-bedroom, two-bath Mesquite-style floor plan in Amarillo Terrace with magnificent views overlooking the lake.

Trusted moving professionals

The next step was preparing to list their home of 18 years in Houston’s Lakes on Eldridge neighborhood.

“After we reserved our apartment, we met with Haven [Benoit, personal moving consultant at Eagle’s Trace],” says Katherine. “She helped us get everything into motion. She gave us the names of real estate agents and senior move companies. I felt confident she had the resources to help us navigate this season of downsizing and moving.”

Benoit offers complimentary coordination of moving services, including referrals to trusted real estate agents, senior move managers, and moving companies.

“It was like we had our own support group going into the move,” says Tom.

Successful transition

The couple listed their home with Lisa Hudgens, an Erickson Living-preferred real estate agent, in September 2016. It was under contract for the full asking price ten days later.

“We used Lone Star Transitions, another company recommended by Haven, to pack up and move us to our new apartment,” says Katherine. “They were remarkable. They took pictures of the items displayed in our curio cabinet and set them up just the same in our new apartment. On moving day, they took the sheets off our bed, washed them, and made up the bed in our apartment. We didn’t have to lift a finger.”

Reflecting on their move, Tom says teamwork was key to a successful transition.

“The interaction between the staff at Eagle’s Trace and the contractors they recommended was seamless,” says Tom. “The degree of care they gave us was exemplary”
