Devonshire boasts 39 different apartment styles, but fewer styles are available now that more and more people are discovering the advantages of the community’s resort-style living.

Had you moved to Devonshire at PGA National four years ago, you’d have had your pick of some 100 apartments.

Now that Erickson Living’s senior living community in Palm Beach Gardens has become such a sought-after address for resort-style living, that number has greatly changed.

Devonshire boasts 39 different floor plans. But earlier this summer, says Sales Counselor Donna Schneider, only eight styles were available.

The good news is that several popular one-bedroom styles, usually in scant supply, have become available.

“Our one-bedroom floor plan styles offer spacious and comfortable living,” Schneider says. “And every community member, regardless of the size of their home, enjoys the same amenities and lifestyle.”

Of particular note, Devonshire’s growing population of couples defies the stereotype that only single people live at senior living communities.

Times two

In fact, the past year has seen an influx of people moving to Devonshire in search of the active lifestyle they’re currently pursuing. They want freedom from homeowner responsibilities but don’t want to change their country club lifestyle.

“When they visit us,” says Schneider, “they realize that Devonshire offers the lifestyle they’re seeking. It provides resort-style amenities such as valet and concierge services, live entertainment, five world-class clubhouse restaurants, and corporate privileges at PGA National Resort & Spa.”

While bridge, mah-jongg, and canasta remain popular pursuits, noncard players are happy to learn that Devonshire’s events calendar is filled with a wide selection of other activities, including a variety of fitness and art classes.

Devonshire also offers peace of mind because it’s a life care community. Should members ever need more care, they have priority access to Chatsworth, Devonshire’s highly rated rehabilitation and continuing care neighborhood.

Moving on your timetable

Because of the scarcity of apartment homes at Devonshire, joining its priority list is more important than ever.

“Every day that someone visits but doesn’t join the list,” says Schneider, “someone else visits and does join, which puts them ahead in the line for the apartment style of their choice.

“Even if your timeframe is five years down the road,” she adds, “it’s important to join the list. It’s doubly important if you want a floor plan that’s popular and is rarely available, or if you hope to move sometime soon.”

Schneider talks every day with people who can’t get the apartment they want because they aren’t on the list. “They’ll eventually move in,” she says, “but the opportunity for the apartment style they want is limited.”

And yet, joining the list is a simple, win-win decision. All it takes to join is a fully refundable $1,000 deposit.

When prospective community members submit their deposit, that date is noted as their priority list date. When their preferred floor plan becomes available, the sales team gives first right of refusal to priority list members based on their joining date.

Even before people join the list, Schneider recommends they meet with Devonshire Personal Moving Consultant Lori Hampton.

“Lori will visit your home, see your lifestyle, and help you clarify what apartment style would really work for you,” says Schneider. “Your timeframe doesn’t matter. The idea is to develop a solid plan.”

Hampton will also explain the many other services she provides to priority list members to coordinate and help make their moving process practically stress-free.
