The announcement that Maris Grove would open Redwood Crossing, its third neighborhood, in mid-2017 gave Mary Ann Biller-Fischetti a deadline to downsize and move from West Chester, Pa., to Erickson Living’s retirement community in Delaware County, Pa.

Because neither Mary Ann nor her late husband had siblings, there were no nieces or nephews to help her move. And her stepchildren lived in Oregon and Australia.

Maris Grove, however, gave her all the help she needed. Mary Ann attended campus moving seminars, shredding events, and vendor fairs featuring Maris Grove-preferred moving professionals.

Personalized help

She worked closely with Maris Grove’s personal moving consultant who, through Erickson Realty and Moving Services, provides complimentary coordination of all realty and moving needs, including downsizing, home staging, packing, and selection of a real estate professional.

Maris Grove’s personal moving consultant paid Mary Ann a complimentary home visit to measure the furniture she planned to bring and to create a floor plan ensuring that everything fit perfectly.

“She was so encouraging and pleasant,” says Mary Ann. “I’d wanted to bring five Danish china cabinets, but she recommended four instead. And she was right.”

For her real estate agent and her moving company, Mary Ann chose firms she’d interviewed at one of Maris Grove’s moving fairs. Her house sold within a week.

Mary Ann also used a Maris Grove-recommended senior move managing company.

The move manager greatly simplified Mary Ann’s move. A team of five people photographed the interiors of her cabinets, packed her goods, then unpacked and used the photos to put things away just as she’d arranged them in her former home.

The team also made her bed, hung her shower curtain, and arranged her knick-knacks and books with a designer’s eye. The team even removed every box and piece of packing paper.

“To me, they were a godsend,” says Mary Ann.
