Construction is moving fast on Fox Run’s latest residence building, Edison Place, which is expected to open in late summer.

Construction is moving on Edison Place, which is expected to open in late summer.

There’s a lot of activity at Fox Run these days. Construction is well under way on Edison Place, the community’s tenth residence building. In December, the roof was completed and the exterior brick had been installed. Sales Director Allison Murphy says the construction is on track for a late-summer opening.

“This is the final building in the second neighborhood, so if anyone is interested in new construction, now is the time,” Murphy says.

In December, almost 50% of the 96 apartment homes in Edison Place had already been reserved.

Demand, and Fox Run will supply

The last few years have been a period of rapid growth for Fox Run, as the community has responded to high demand from area retirees looking for maintenance-free living. Fox Run opened its Edgewater and Twin Pines residence buildings in 2015 and 2016, respectively, and both sold out quickly.

“People are very excited to see growth at Fox Run,” Murphy says. “Larger two-bedroom, two-bath apartments have been especially favorable and in high demand. Several of our apartments have an ‘open-concept’ kitchen that is open to the living room, rivaling the latest in home construction, which people love.”

Murphy says prospective new residents have also been delighted by the quality of materials and the color combinations that have been selected for the new apartment homes.

Standard finishes include granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, vinyl plank wood flooring in the entry, and handsome wood cabinets.

What you haven’t seen yet

There will be 16 different floor plan designs available in Edison Place, six of which are brand new.

The largest new floor plan is the Lexington, the community’s first-ever three-bedroom unit, which also features two and a half bathrooms and a balcony.

The new two-bedroom, two-bath floorplan is the Jefferson, a corner home with a balcony, open-concept kitchen with island, and tons of natural light.

Other new floor plans include the Haggerty, a large one bedroom with one and a half baths and a kitchen island, and the Preston, an extra-large one-bedroom home with one and a half bathrooms with a kitchen island that opens to the living room.

The new Jacobson-style apartment is a deluxe one-bedroom corner home with one and a half baths, a balcony, and an oversized walk-in closet.

Finally the Krowley, a one-bedroom corner unit with a den, offers one and a half bathrooms and a balcony.

Fox Run contracted Brinkman Construction and Lantz-Boggio Architects, the firms that built Edgewater and Twin Pines, for Edison Place as well.

Tight-knit community

All three recently opened residence buildings pay tribute to Detroit. Edgewater was named for the classic Detroit amusement park, while Twin Pines references an old Detroit creamery. Edison Place is named in honor of Detroit’s historic Boston-Edison neighborhood, which was built in the 1900s.

“We chose this iconic neighborhood because, just like Fox Run, it was a tight-knit community with access to great medical care [Henry Ford Hospital was built just down the road] and was a symbol of good economic times,” Murphy says. “The beauty of the Boston-Edison neighborhood is still very much alive and well today.”

If you’re interested in learning more about Fox Run and its newest building, plan to attend one of the community’s sales events. Also, in mid-March, Fox Run will host one of its popular Erickson Realty and Moving Services seminars, which is a great time to learn more about how the staff can help make your move easier.

“This is a terrific seminar to help folks start planning their move, which includes downsizing, estate sales, donation, real estate agents, packers and movers,” Murphy says. “It’s never too early to start this process of getting rid of stuff and cleaning out the house.”

But, with Edison Place apartment homes going fast, people who are interested in one of these brand-new homes should act fast. Call the sales office at 1-800-262-7315 to schedule a private tour and appointment with a member of the sales staff.
