Windsor Run’s personal moving consultant provides invaluable moving services

“The biggest benefit of the Erickson Realty and Moving Services program is the peace of mind it provides our future residents,” says Windsor Run’s new personal moving consultant Rachel Gilbert, who describes herself as “the biggest cheerleader throughout the moving process.”

In an effort to address the needs of the hundreds of community members moving to Windsor Run this year, Gilbert is busy this spring meeting with future residents and preparing them for their upcoming move to the Erickson Living community in Matthews, N.C.

Introduced in 2007 and available at all of Erickson Living’s 19 communities, Erickson Realty and Moving Services helps eliminate the many challenges older Americans face when selling their houses and preparing for their moves. At the heart of the program are the personal moving consultants, like Gilbert, who work one on one with future residents to provide personalized assistance with everything from selecting a real estate professional to staging their home to packing and moving.

“Our personal moving consultants make it their No. 1 priority to ensure that a future resident’s move, from start to finish, is as stress-free and seamless as possible,” says Erickson Living Regional Director of Sales Sharon Baksa, who started the Realty and Moving Services program in 2007. “By working with a network of carefully selected professionals chosen for the quality of services they provide, our personal moving consultants create customized moving plans unique to each individual’s desires. And most importantly, they are with their customers every step of the way.”

Getting to know you

For more than nine years, Gilbert worked at Windsor Run’s sister community Greenspring in Springfield, Va. In her most recent position as move-in coordinator, she worked directly with Personal Moving Consultant Anna Greves, visiting future residents in their homes and learning firsthand the important intricacies of the moving process.

“I learned that each move is different and equally important,” she says. “Whether moving down the street or out of state, I am able to coordinate the resources needed for a successful move.”

As Windsor Run’s personal moving consultant, Gilbert first meets with people in their current homes to discuss their expectations and to create a comprehensive selling and moving plan based on their individual needs.

“During our meeting, I provide information on the wide variety of resources available through Erickson Realty and Moving Services, including real estate agents, downsizing experts, cleanout services, packers, and movers. Everyone I refer is screened and has been handpicked because of the quality of services they provide.

Whether people need a place to donate belongings during the downsizing process, or they are concerned about how their treasured furniture will fit in their new home, I can help. They will also receive the best real estate market advice from our preferred real estate agents, all of whom come highly recommended and are top sellers in the area.”

But it is the personal connections Gilbert makes during these meetings that she feels make the program truly successful.

“It means so much to me to visit people in their homes as it gives me the chance to see photographs, collectibles, and other treasured items that I would not have the opportunity to see in the office,” she says. “It is an important way to get to know people, to hear their stories, and to help understand what makes them who they are. All of those things are important connections and especially helpful when preparing for a move, which is a very personal process.”

The start of something wonderful

Working one on one with Gilbert is one of the key benefits of joining the Windsor Run priority list.  Joining the priority list is easy and provides the peace of mind that comes with planning for the future. Members pay a fully refundable $1,000 deposit and a $150-per-person nonrefundable application fee.

Not only do priority list members reserve their place in line for a future home at Windsor Run, they also receive invitations to special members-only events, including informational seminars on the various aspects of moving, such as downsizing, financial planning, selling your house, and choosing the right apartment home. Gilbert is present at these events to answer questions and provide greater detail on the services she provides.

“These special events are important for so many reasons,” she says. “Not only are they opportunities to learn more about Windsor Run, but they also serve as a way to meet future neighbors and many of our staff members. I find that I am already well acquainted with future residents as a result of these events, prior to meeting with them in their home.”

In the remaining weeks until Windsor Run opens its doors for the first time, Gilbert will be busy preparing the first “pioneer” residents for their upcoming move as well as meeting with others who plan to move later in the year.

“My experience working at a developed Erickson Living community was so rewarding because I witnessed neighbors become family to one another and saw residents live life to the fullest each day,” she says. “I am so grateful to share that joy with all the new community members who will be moving to Windsor Run.”
