The second residence building to open this year at Ashby Ponds, Cypress Ridge, boasts the most sought-after apartment home designs.

Cypress Ridge, the newest independent living residence building at Ashby Ponds, opens its doors this month to more than 100 people eager to join the thriving Erickson Living community in Ashburn, Va.

Cypress Ridge is the twelfth residence building at Ashby Ponds and the second to open this year.

“The opening of two new residence buildings this year illustrates our commitment to meeting the demand for the Erickson Living lifestyle in Loudoun County,” says Ashby Ponds Sales Director Holly Henderson. “Ashby Ponds offers a truly unique and preferred lifestyle, and for that reason, we continue to grow.

“Not a day goes by that we don’t communicate with our residents and members of our priority list, to learn exactly what they want and need in their retirement. Each of our new residence buildings are designed to include the most-asked-for floor plans and amenities.”

Living the dream

Cypress Ridge is conveniently situated between Ashby Ponds’ two community clubhouses, providing easy access to all of the restaurants, events, and services. It is also located directly adjacent to Ashby Ponds’ new interfaith chapel, scheduled to open later this year.

All of the 83 apartment homes in Cypress Ridge feature open layouts and beautiful finishes; modern kitchens with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances; full-size, side-by-side washers and dryers; walk-in closets; and custom flooring and light fixtures. Many of the apartment homes also feature an outdoor living space with a screened-in porch or a patio.

“Because we design our offerings based on the feedback of current and future residents, Cypress Ridge features our most popular one- and two-bedroom floor plans,” says Henderson. “We also offer a vast array of interior design options to meet each community member’s personal preferences.”

At the top of Cypress Ridge’s best seller list is the deluxe, two-bedroom, two-bath Washington apartment home, which features a sought-after sunroom.

“Homes like the Washington reflect the current demand for large, two-bedroom homes with additional living space in the form of a sunroom, patio, or porch,” says Henderson. “These homes also provide access to underground parking and spectacular views of the campus, including a large courtyard, pond, and trees.”

For those looking for a large one-bedroom home, Cypress Ridge features two of the community’s best-selling one-bedroom designs, the Bradford and the Harper.

Both popular designs feature spacious living areas that flow seamlessly into modern kitchens. The large bedrooms boast direct access to a spacious walk-in closet and full bath as well as a half bath, storage space, and a dedicated laundry room with washer and dryer, just off the kitchen.

“One-bedroom homes are top-sellers at all the Erickson Living communities,” says Henderson. “Not only are these beautifully appointed homes less expensive than our larger models, they still provide access to all the wonderful amenities that make living at an Erickson Living community such a pleasure.”

Everyone is welcome

With hundreds of people moving to Ashby Ponds this year, current community members are busy extending a hand of friendship to their new neighbors.

“Moving can be an emotional time for many people,” says Ashby Ponds Resident Services Coordinator Faith Edwards. “As a result, we have a variety of programs aimed at helping our newest neighbors feel welcome and appreciated. These programs are the result of several focus groups asking incoming residents what type of help they would like during their first few months at Ashby Ponds. And all of these programs are successful because of our wonderful resident volunteers.”

The most popular programs for new community members include partnering with a current resident, meet-and-greet dinners, and floor socials.

“Even though I was moving from Sterling, Va., and knew the area well, I felt that it would be helpful to meet someone who had gone through the same experiences as I was going through,” says Jane Hausch, who moved to Ashby Ponds last year. “I found the partner program was a great way to help acclimate to my new home.”

Perfect timing

Because Cypress Ridge is the final residence building to open this year, only a handful of apartment homes remain.

“I encourage anyone interested in learning more to schedule a visit to discuss their options,” says Henderson. “Our current residents are also available to provide a firsthand account of life on campus.”

“If I could give one piece of advice, it would be this,” says community member Greg Johnson. “Life is what you make of it, and I think life would be more enjoyable with you around to share it.”
