When Tallgrass Creek’s newest residence building opened last fall, Lois and Bruce Robb were among the first residents.

“We reserved a year earlier, right after the building’s groundbreaking, which was a great decision,” says Lois. “We got the floor plan we wanted in the exact location we wanted.”

Though it was a little sooner than they had planned to move to a retirement community, the Robbs chose not to wait.

“The most compelling reason for us was our parents,” says Bruce. “They waited too long and it was hard.”

Before reserving, the Robbs looked around at other retirement communities but found something in the spacious apartment home at Tallgrass Creek they didn’t find elsewhere.

“It was the openness of the design,” says Lois. “There was so much light and so many windows. It reminded us of our two prior homes.”

Organized moving assistance

Bruce, a semi-retired real estate broker, sold the couple’s house, but they utilized Erickson Living’s recommended services for the actual move: Gentle Changes, a senior downsizing organization to help organize their move, and C & C Relocation to do the moving. It worked beautifully.

“Our new home was organized and boxes gone within hours of our things arriving,” says Lois. “That first night, our bed was made and almost everything put away. It was great.”

The Robbs are enjoying many of the amenities Tallgrass Creek offers but also have an active life outside the community. Bruce is president of the local Rotary Club Foundation, and Lois has composed children’s music and currently coordinates donations for a local charity. Both are church elders.

Along with the more relaxed lifestyle, the Robbs are enjoying their new neighbors.

“We’ve connected quickly with many people,” says Lois. “It’s a very friendly environment.”

The couple experienced yet another positive this winter when they were away for three weeks.

“We just walked out,” says Lois. “The peace of mind and lack of worry while away is something new for us. We love it.”
