Computer tutor Eileen Spickler (middle) helps community members Cary Raetzel (left) and Mark Gingrich in a recent how-to cell phone class. Tallgrass Creek hosted Spickler for the weekly, eight-week class geared toward residents with either an iPhone or Android cell phone.

Spickler relocated to the Kansas City area from Gaithersburg, Md., where she also taught cell phone classes to residents of Riderwood, another Erickson Living retirement community in Silver Spring, Md.

The classes cover the basic fundamentals of making and receiving calls, texting, understanding different settings and applications, creating contact lists, and preserving phone batteries.
