Good friends, good food, and good music filled the sunny Blue Sky Restaurant recently when Tallgrass Creek’s sales team hosted a special luncheon of German favorites. Tallgrass Creek neighbors invited their friends and family members interested in learning more about the Overland Park, Kans., Erickson Living community.

The group chatted while enjoying knockwurst sausages, veal schnitzel, spätzle, sautéed red cabbage, roasted Brussels sprouts, German chocolate cake, and cold German-style lager. Music provided by a local jazz band added to the lively atmosphere.

“It is a pleasure to introduce friends to Tallgrass Creek,” says resident Georgia Erickson. “There is so much to share.”

Getting the scoop

The sales team was on hand to answer questions and introduce guests to each of the modern residence buildings, including Goldfinch Lane, the newest residence building at the 62-acre community.

Goldfinch Lane offers 78 spacious apartment homes featuring 12 different designs, including previously sold-out floor plans back by popular demand. There is also a spacious movie theater and large, multiuse community room that can be reserved for resident meetings or personal gatherings.

The new residence building has many floor plans with outdoor space such as patios and balconies along with under-building parking. It connects to the main campus, on-site medical center, and different restaurants via temperature-controlled walkways.

Keeping it simple

Tallgrass Creek, managed by Erickson Living, headquartered in Baltimore, Md., offers a unique program to all people moving to one of its 20 communities.

Erickson Realty and Moving Services offers complimentary coordination of all realty and moving needs for future residents. Services include home staging, packing, downsizing, and selecting a preferred real estate professional.

“The local, Erickson-recommended professionals we partner with have years of experience in simplifying the moving process,” says Tallgrass Creek Personal Moving Consultant Nancy Worthington. “Using their services can take so much stress out of moving and result in a much easier move.”

About 80% of the people living at Tallgrass Creek have worked with one or more of the local Erickson-recommended businesses, including Doris Waller who moved to Tallgrass Creek three years ago.

Doris utilized the services of Gentle Changes, a local downsizing organization that helped her determine what furniture and other belongings would best fit in her new residence at Tallgrass Creek.

On moving day, the team from Gentle Changes worked with C & C Relocation, another Erickson-recommended company, to move and place furniture, and organize the kitchen, bedrooms, and bathrooms.

“It was the best money I ever spent,” says Doris. “I walked in and there were no boxes or mess in the apartment, and everything was in place in just one afternoon. Thanks to both Gentle Changes, C & C, and so many Tallgrass Creek staff members, my move was as easy as it could possibly be.”

Priority power

Prospective residents also learn about Tallgrass Creek’s priority list, which is comprised of people planning to move to an Erickson Living community. All it takes to join is a fully refundable $1,000 deposit and a $150-per-person, nonrefundable application fee.

When prospective residents submit their deposit, that date is noted as their priority list date. Once their preferred floor plan becomes available, the sales team gives first right of refusal to priority list members based on their joining date.

Priority list members are also invited to frequent social and informational events at Tallgrass Creek so they can familiarize themselves with the community and meet their future neighbors.

Often, the Tallgrass Creek sales staff offers priority list members a special Live the Life experience.

Guests spend the night at the active community where they enjoy an evening meal in the Blue Sky Restaurant, lunch and happy hour in the Sunflower Bistro, or a casual snack in Milo’s Café and Mini-Market.

“Our guests have access to the fitness center, creative art studio, all-season pool, on-site medical center, along with all the other activities and amenities our residents enjoy each day,” says Sales Associate Sue LaBelle. “It’s a great way to experience everyday life at Tallgrass Creek.”
