‘A great place to live’

Meet Nathan Prehn, senior sales associate at Siena Lakes

When Nathan Prehn moved to Naples, Fla., from Baltimore, Md., he didn’t expect to meet people from his hometown. But that’s just what happened.

As a senior sales associate at Siena Lakes, the upcoming Erickson Senior Living community in North Naples, Prehn often meets with people from the Midwest and Northeast interested in moving to the Sunshine State for retirement.

“There are many different options for senior care in Collier County and Lee County,” he says. “People are choosing Siena Lakes because they know and respect the Erickson Senior Living brand. A lot of them have family, friends, or relatives who have lived in an Erickson community and know our strong reputation of offering seniors a great place to live.”

This observation comes just a few hours after meeting with one couple who joined the priority list at Charlestown, and another couple who have relatives at Oak Crest, both Erickson communities in Maryland.

‘Jack of all trades’

In his role, Prehn serves people interested in the maintenance-free lifestyle Siena Lakes will offer when it opens in early 2021. “I’m a jack of all trades,” he says. “I enjoy meeting new people and introducing them to everything Siena Lakes will offer. Sometimes I meet people over the phone or have lunch with them at our information events or even when they just walk in to visit with us.”

With a fun-loving attitude, Prehn turns every personal appointment into an enjoyable, friendly visit. Talk to him about his job for five minutes, and it’s not hard to see why he’s stayed with the company for over a decade.

“Erickson Senior Living really strives to provide a better life for seniors. They also provide an excellent life for their employees. I’ve never worked for someone within Erickson who didn’t really care about me personally,” he says.

Now at his third Erickson community, Prehn says that while the excellent service model and financial structure remain the same, the location of Siena Lakes is indeed something to write home about.

“The Naples area is great for seniors because you don’t deal with the bad weather you’ll find in the Midwest or the Northeast. It’s easier on your joints, the sun is always shining, and it’s really a community built around a great lifestyle,” he says. “The people here really enjoy outdoor activities, happy hours, and living their lives to the fullest.”

Taking a few pages from the book of people moving to Siena Lakes, Prehn is learning to take time to enjoy life and embrace Florida’s warm, sunny climate: “I’m a big outdoors person—playing tennis, beach volleyball, golf, anything outside. Those activities are more readily available here.”

And with Miami only an hour and a half away, he can get his fix of city life when needed.

Prehn says all the things he appreciates about Naples—the weather, the activities, the culture, and the restaurants—are exactly what those moving to Siena Lakes will appreciate as well.

“It really is a great place to live,” he says.
