Tallgrass Creek’s spacious Blue Sky Restaurant was full of more than delicious food during the Overland Park, Kans., community’s yearly home expo extravaganza.

About 200 guests strolled underneath a festive balloon arch where they were greeted by professionals from downsizing and moving organizations, real estate firms, estate sale companies, and more.

Guests enjoyed fun giveaways along with information about simplifying the moving process in organized, affordable ways.

“The hardest part of moving is knowing where to start,” says Personal Moving Consultant Nancy Worthington. “Our expo gathers Tallgrass Creek-approved experts who know how to make the entire moving process much easier and less stressful.”

Guests relaxed and refueled at a special buffet of cold deli meat sandwiches, fresh vegetables with homemade ranch dip, pineapple salsa with cinnamon pita chips, spinach and cheese mushroom caps, mini quiches, beef sliders, and assorted brownies and fruit tarts.

“We never want anyone to go away hungry,” says Tallgrass Creek Sales Director Blake Marshall. “It’s another way our visitors can see and taste for themselves what goes on at this active community.”

Experienced and qualified

Tallgrass Creek is one of 20 communities managed by Baltimore, Md.-based Erickson Living, which offers future residents a unique program called Erickson Realty and Moving Services.

The program consists of complimentary coordination of all realty and moving needs including downsizing, home staging, packing, and selecting real estate professionals.

Worthington notes about 80% of the residents at Tallgrass Creek have utilized some or all of the Erickson Living-recommended services to simplify their moves.

“The local recommended providers we work with have all met high quality standards and really know their business,” says Worthington. “It saves time, stress, and confusion not having to research potential real estate agents, movers, and more.”

Jane Watts moved from a large, four-bedroom home and utilized all facets of the Erickson Realty and Moving Services program.

“I’d heard from other residents that these businesses really know what they’re doing,” says Jane. “They were absolutely right. They made my move much easier.”

Expo extras

Expo guests learned more about the Erickson Living-recommended services at a seminar hosted by Worthington and Linda Scardino, owner of Gentle Changes, a senior downsizing organization. Scardino has helped many residents, like Jane, downsize and coordinate details on both ends of their move.

“On moving day, my kitchen, bedroom, bath, everything in my new residence was placed and move-in ready,” says Jane. “It was wonderful to walk in and have it all together.”

Marshall hosted an additional seminar with an easy-to-understand presentation that shared details about Tallgrass Creek’s secure financial structure and affordable cost.

Marshall also told guests about the community’s popular Move on Us program, which allows future residents who list and sell their homes with a Tallgrass Creek-recommended real estate agent to receive a credit towards the cost of moving their household goods, up to $2,000.

Additionally, guests were invited to bring any unwanted paperwork and utilize a professional shredding truck on-site for the expo. The truck makes occasional stops at Tallgrass Creek so residents can securely destroy unwanted documents.

Throughout the expo, resident ambassadors were on hand to greet guests and answer questions about everyday life at Tallgrass Creek.

“It’s always a delight to share information about Tallgrass,” says ambassador Bob Butterworth. “It’s one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.”
