This beautifully appointed model apartment is used as the Live the Life suite at Windsor Run.

After a good night’s rest, guests in the Live the Life program enjoy a day filled with optional activities, delicious dining, and friendly smiles.

"For over two years we looked at many retirement communities,” says Joel Albaum, who moved to Windsor Run this past June with his wife Maxine. “Our son Todd lives in Charlotte. We knew we wanted to move from our home in New Jersey to North Carolina to be closer to him and his wife Robin.”

After months of exploration, Windsor Run was the last community the couple visited, but it was the one that made the most lasting impression.

“We liked it from the moment we saw it,” says Maxine. “Windsor Run is so new and bright, lots of windows, very pretty and comfortable. And everyone we saw was smiling and friendly.”

“I told Maxine, ‘This is like walking through a cruise ship,’” says Joel.

“It was immediately clear that Windsor Run was our top choice,” says Maxine.

With their minds made up, the couple joined the priority list and begin further exploring their Windsor Run options.

One of the many benefits of priority list membership, the Live the Life program provides members the opportunity to stay at Windsor Run for a designated period of time. During their stay, guests enjoy access to the same amenities and services as current Windsor Run community members. They are encouraged to select activities that interest them and attend a club meeting, join residents for dinner, attend a lecture, or work out in the fitness center.

“The sky is really the limit,” says Sales Associate Zachary Goldberg. “The experience provides our future community members with the unique experience of real life at Windsor Run. I encourage everyone I meet with to take advantage of this special offering.”

A day in the life

Earlier this year while visiting family in Charlotte, the Albaums decided to take advantage of the Live the Life program.

“I wanted to see what everyday life was like on campus,” says Joel.

“As soon as we arrived, we were greeted warmly and escorted to the lovely suite,” says Maxine. “We were given time to settle in and a welcome letter listing the many activities going on that day.”

“It is our goal that everyone who participates in the Live the Life program has access to, and knowledge of, the many activities going on during a stay,” says Goldberg. “We collaborate with dining services to set up meals that allow our guests to interact and mingle with our current residents.”

During their stay in the Live the Life program, Joel and Maxine thoroughly enjoyed dining with Windsor Run community members. They enjoyed lunch in the café and dinner at The Grove, at a table alongside current residents, including one from their home state of New Jersey.

“We had a very nice time and enjoyed the opportunity to speak candidly with people whose opinion, as community members, we trusted,” says Joel. “They had wonderful stories to share about their life at Windsor Run.”

In addition, the Albaums attended a few lectures on campus, including one made by a former FBI agent.

“We really enjoyed the presentation,” says Joel.

Time to take action

Following their stay, the Albaums scheduled a follow-up meeting with the sales team where they reserved their new home at Windsor Run, a one-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath Carlisle apartment home.

“Our participating in the Live the Life program really solidified our decision,” says Maxine.

With their minds made up and their future apartment home style selected, the Albaums turned their attention to the details of moving. As priority list members, they enjoyed exclusive access to Erickson Living’s Realty and Moving Services.

Because the couple lived in New Jersey, near Windsor Run’s sister community, Seabrook in Tinton Falls, Windsor Run’s personal moving consultant Amanda Bates, worked directly with Amy Giubilo, the personal moving consultant at Seabrook, who visited the couple in their house to help plan for their move south.

“She mapped out our new apartment home, showing us what pieces of furniture fit and where they should be placed,” says Joel. “That was extremely helpful. She also provided us with downsizing advice and put us in touch with a recommended real estate agent who did a fantastic job.”

“I’m still amazed at how much everyone did for us,” says Maxine.

In June 2019, less than a year after their experience in the Live the Life program, the Albaums moved into their new Windsor Run home.

“We are excited about our new life and advise anyone considering a move to Windsor Run to take advantage of the Live the Life program,” they remarked. “Our stay provided us with the certainty and peace of mind that this move was the right decision for us.”
