Devonshire's outdoor signage is flanked by beautiful Florida foliage, with lush bushes and long palm fronds.

The Devonshire sales team is busier than ever this spring meeting with people who are eager to learn more about this premier community at PGA National.

Spring is one of the busiest times of the year at Devonshire, an Erickson Living-managed community at PGA National. Numerous people visit the campus eager to learn how they can plan, prepare, or expedite a move to the sought-after community.

“I meet with a wide range of people, from those early in the exploration process, to those looking at options for their parents, to those who know, with certainty, that Devonshire is where they wish to live,” says Director of Sales Kathy McCrossin. “Yet, no matter their differences, the following are some of the most frequently asked questions I’ve addressed over the last few weeks.”

Q: What’s the secret? What do I need to do to ensure that, when I am ready to move, the Devonshire home of my choice will be available to me?

A: This is the question I receive more than any other. Luckily, the answer is simple. Join the priority list! All it takes to join is a fully refundable $1,000 deposit and a $150-per-person nonrefundable application fee.  The deposit reserves your priority date. Once your preferred apartment home becomes available, you will be given right of first refusal based on your joining date.

It’s important to note that there is no penalty should your preferred apartment home become available before you are ready to move. It is simply offered to the next member on the list and your priority list status remains the same.

While on the priority list, you will enjoy opportunities to learn more about our community, meet current community members, attend special priority list functions, and tour apartment homes. For instance, for the last two years, members of the Devonshire priority list have received sought-after invitations to attend the Honda Classic at PGA National from the comfort of the community’s on-course venue.

Priority list members also enjoy exclusive access to Devonshire Personal Moving Consultant Donna Schneider, who, if requested, meets with members in their home, providing information on the wide variety of resources available through Erickson Realty and Moving Services.

Q: Devonshire is such a popular community, are there any apartment homes currently available?

A: Despite high occupancy rates, there are currently a handful of our most popular apartment homes available, including the one-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath Ashton floor plan and the two-bedroom, two-bath with terrace Flagler.

The Ashton is a one-bedroom dream because of the large, open living area that flows seamlessly onto an enviable porch. The home also boasts a modern kitchen filled with full-size, state-of-the-art appliances and a large bedroom with direct access to a spacious walk-in closet and full-size bathroom.

The Flagler is also extremely popular thanks to its large kitchen and living area, roomy master bedroom with walk-in closet, and beautiful terrace, providing the perfect oasis for enjoying the Florida weather. The second bedroom, also boasting a large walk-in closet, is perfect for hosting guests, creating a home office, entertainment room, or even an art studio.

It’s important to note that supply varies on a daily basis, and finding the perfect home for each individual is something I take very seriously. Anyone wishing to move to Devonshire in the short term should schedule a visit and explore their options.

Q: I’ve heard many good things about living at Devonshire. What opportunities are available to me to see the community and learn more about the lifestyle?

A: Each month, Devonshire hosts dozens of people eager to learn more about our community at one of our informational luncheons. These no-pressure visits provide an unparalleled opportunity to take a tour, meet current residents, and enjoy a delicious chef-prepared meal.

Each luncheon guest is personally welcomed by a member of the Devonshire staff who, prior to the luncheon, will lead a small group of visitors on a comprehensive tour of our clubhouse. These tour groups are kept intentionally small to encourage questions and enable participants to get to know their fellow attendees.

Following the tour of the clubhouse, guests enjoy a sit-down luncheon prepared and presented by Devonshire’s talented dining services team. Following the appetizer and main entrée—which recently included lobster bisque and a choice between duck confit with port wine sauce or grilled swordfish with pineapple relish—both staff members and current community members share their personal experiences. After a decadent dessert, guests are encouraged to continue their visit by touring a variety of our popular floor plans.

Q: Eating well is important to me. What makes dining at Devonshire stand apart from the competition?

A: Every day, our dining services staff works diligently to bring delicious dishes, made with the freshest local ingredients, to the tables of its five restaurants. The menus, updated on an ambitious five-week cycle, bear the imprint of community member feedback and the joint efforts of the talented staff.

Our five restaurants serve delicious, made-to-order entrées that match or excel what you’ll find at restaurants within the local community. It is the goal of our dining services team to provide a menu that meets all dietary concerns; showcases fresh, in-season ingredients; and provides numerous options pleasing to a variety of palates. To that end, every month the resident chair of our culinary committee meets with Executive Chef Joseph Marinelli to share insight from members of our community. This important exchange helps ensure that we are meeting and exceeding both the needs and expectations of our community members.
