When Fred and Elinor Weitzel walked into a two-bedroom, two-bath Manchester-style apartment on the first floor of the Plum Tree Terrace residence building at Eagle’s Trace, they knew they’d found their next home.

“We’d looked at other apartments across the community, but when we walked into this one, we knew it was for us,” says Elinor. “We liked the open living area, the large master bedroom, the good-sized closets, and the way the apartment overlooked the beautiful courtyard.”

In 2016, Fred and Elinor joined the priority list at Eagle’s Trace, the Erickson Living-managed community in West Houston, anticipating a potential move in their future.

“We lived in our home for 49 years,” says Elinor. “Last year, we decided we were ready to let go of all the chores that come with keeping up a home.”

Ahead of their October 2019 move-in date, Fred and Elinor invited their children and grandchildren to tour their new apartment.

“Our daughter-in-law has a good eye for design and mentioned the possibility of opening up the wall between the front hallway and the kitchen,” says Elinor. “We met with Jessica [Ceballos, custom interiors coordinator] to see if it was possible.”

Variety of upgrade options

Custom interiors at Eagle’s Trace, led by Ceballos, offers a variety of upgrades for residents to customize their apartment homes, including flooring, countertops, lighting, window treatments, decorative moldings, and more.

“We have options to make your apartment a reflection of your personal taste,” says Ceballos. “This is your home, and we can help make it a space that’s both functional and beautiful.”

Ceballos meets with clients to choose finishes and identify the scope and budget of the work, and then she takes it from there, hiring contractors, managing schedules, and supervising the work.

“We want to make the process as seamless and stress-free as possible,” says Ceballos. “We have trusted contractors who’ve worked on projects at Eagle’s Trace for over ten years, so they’re efficient and do the job well.”

When Fred and Elinor met with Ceballos, they developed a plan to meet both their needs and wants in terms of style and function.

“We created an opening in the kitchen [that gave us space for] additional granite countertops,” says Elinor. “We added a pantry and painted the kitchen cabinets a lighter color. We ordered plantation shutters for the second bedroom and the door leading from the master bedroom to the patio. Jessica also helped me chose paint colors for the apartment.”

Once they devised a plan, the couple turned the project over to Ceballos.

“Jessica handled all the details,” says Elinor. “We’d completed home improvement projects in our house over the years, and this was much easier because I didn’t have to order materials or find contractors. Jessica did all that, and the apartment was ready when we moved in.”

Opportunity to customize new apartment homes

Custom interiors at Eagle’s Trace will be even busier over the next few months as the community recently announced the construction of a new residence building, Austin Square, scheduled to open in 2021.

The sales team is currently accepting reservations for Austin Square, and those who act soon can choose the finishes they’d like in their new apartments.

“We have four standard finish packages to choose from,” says Ceballos. “We also have a selection of upgrades, including a beautiful quartz countertop.”

The window to choose custom finishes and updates from the collection of thoughtfully designed packages is limited. Schedule your appointment with Sales Counselor Jodie Schroeder at 281-661-1403 now to learn more about this unique opportunity.
