The Ann’s Choice Lifelong Learning Academy (ACLLA) has grown to perhaps the premier resident-run activity at Erickson Living’s community in Bucks County, Pa.

Its 40-member panel handles everything from lining up presenters to marketing courses to facilitating during lectures.

After 53 years in their large split-level house in Holland, Pa., Lila McKean had tired of cleaning three bathrooms and no longer wanted a big kitchen. 

She and her husband Jack also wanted to secure their future. “If something happened to Jack, I couldn’t take care of the house,” Lila says. “If something happened to me, he wouldn’t want to.”

When Villanova’s head basketball coach, Jay Wright, appeared on Sports Talk at Ann’s Choice, he posed with resident Diana Bowen, the show’s host and producer.

Ann’s Choice, Erickson Living’s community in Bucks County, Pa., existed only in architectural drawings when Diana Bowen and her husband first considered moving there. 

It was close to their Holland neighborhood and to Newtown, where Diana worked for The Advance of Bucks County newspaper. 

Mary and John Tarquino, who love the lifestyle at Ann’s Choice, moved there from an active adult community.

After ten years in an active adult community in Warrington, Pa., where they expected to stay put, John and Mary Tarquino moved to maintenance-free, activity-rich living at nearby Ann’s Choice.
