Evans was honored by the governor for working to protect a key wildlife habitat; urging the routing of I-70 over Vail Pass, a direction far less destructive to wildlife habitat; and serving as a prime advocate for establishing a walleye fishery in the state. But a plane crash while serving in World War II almost made none of his later work for green initiatives possible.

This Santa Fe-inspired work by Wind Crest artist Anita Jones hangs in the community s creative arts studio. For Anita Jones, moving to Wind Crest allowed her to reconnect with an old friend. But it wasn t someone from school or her childhood. I had painted for years, Jones says. But with everyday worries and distractions, I sort of got away from it.
