HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO (March 27, 20167) Wind Crest retirement community Executive Director Craig Erickson April 2 - 8 will participate in a mission trip to do construction work at an orphanage in Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua.

Casa Bernabé Orphanage started with just a few children back in the 80's. During the Sandinista/Contra conflict the numbers grew. After the turmoil within the country ended and the United States left the eastern coast of Nicaragua, there was little to sustain the economy. Wind Crest's Roxlyn "Lyn" Cole Scales 56 Flights of Stairs in American Lung Association Event

HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO (March 7, 2017) – Wind Crest retirement community resident Roxlyn “Lyn” Cole scaled 56 flights of stairs in the American Lung Association’s “Fight for Air Climb” held February 26 in the Republic Plaza in downtown Denver. Lyn, 78, has participated in the event since it began in 2006. More than 800 people climbed 1,098 steps in this year’s event.

New 'Signature Dining' Comes to Wind Crest

HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO (February 21, 2017) – Wind Crest retirement community’s on-site restaurants, which recently underwent a major overhaul, have rolled out ‘Signature Dining,’ a new Erickson Living-wide program that features fresh, made-to-order menu offerings.

HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO -- Wind Crest retirement community's Jim MacNair, a former journalist, has published "Killing Time," an anthology of 100 short stories written over 70 years. The stories, which are Hemingway-esque in style, reflect his keen observations and life insight.

MacNair honed his writing skills as a copy editor for the Schenectady Gazette in New York and, before that, as editor of the Daily Iowan when he attended Iowa University.


Wind Crest's Bob McAdam, 96, Sets 5K World Record

HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO (November 25, 2016) -- Wind Crest retirement community resident Bob McAdam, 96, on Thanksgiving Day completed the Highlands Ranch 5K Turkey Day Run in 48 minutes, 19 seconds to set a new world record for the 95+ Age Group. The official world record for this age category had been 50 minutes, 10 seconds.

HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO (November 3, 2016) – All 99 apartment homes in Long’s Ridge, the new independent living building under construction at Wind Crest retirement community, are already sold – eight months before it is to open.

Longs Ridge is the fourth new residence building in three years at Wind Crest nestled against the Rocky Mountains. This project costs $33.2 million and will open in summer 2017.

HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO (November 1, 2016) – A staff-resident Halloween Costume and Pumpkin Contest raised $400 for Wind Crest retirement community’s Staff Appreciation Fund that thanks hourly employees for their exemplary work.

Housekeeping's "Peanuts Pumpkin Patch" took the First P l ace Award from among 25 pumpkins entered. They were judged by Karla Norvell, Philanthropy Coordinator, resident Jerry Nelson, and resident Sheila Haskell. Jennifer Anderson of Sales and Marketing emceed the event held in the Fireside Lounge and attended by about 100 people.
