USPTA's Nicole Hola Gives Tennis Tips to Wind Crest Residents

HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO (October 7, 2014) - Wind Crest retirement community's Wellness Department brought in United States Professional Tennis Association Certified Instructor Nicole Hola to give tennis tips to residents.

Her tennis instruction was part of Active Aging Week events held nationwide the last week of September. Hola is also the Masters Tennis and Play Day Coordinator in Colorado.

Hola set up a modified court, used larger tennis balls and smaller rackets to make it possible for all residents to enjoy the game.

Sarah Helms is Wind Crest's New Director of Continuing Care

HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO (September 24, 2014) - Erickson Living has named Sarah Helms, NHA, Director of Continuing Care for Wind Crest retirement community.

Helms, whose background is in dementia training, has spent the past 10 years with Life Care Centers of America. She started as an Activities Assistant, served as an Activities Director for several years, completed an AIT program, and for the past three years has served as an Executive Director at two of its communities in Alamosa, CO.

HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO (September 23, 2014) - Residents and staff of the Continuing Care neighborhood at Wind Crest retirement community this week provided 70 meals-to-go to area church congregations. They did so to thank the local churches for their service to their congregations, the community and senior citizens.

Wind Crest Raises $9,399 for Alzheimer's Association

HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO (September 23, 2014) - Wind Crest retirement community this year has raised $9,399 for the Alzheimer's Association through a series of fundraising activities at its Highlands Ranch campus.

This record amount is more than triple the amount of money raised last year and it makes Wind Crest the 6 th leading fundraiser in the Denver area, according to the Alzheimer's Association.

Residents and staff also participated September 20 in the 5K Walk to End Alzheimer's.

A Fiesta Day Colorado Green Chili Cook-off fundraiser for the Alzheimer's Association will be held Tuesday, September 16 (from noon - 2 p.m.) at Wind Crest retirement community in Highlands Ranch.

Denver area restaurants will present their chili entrees for taste-testing by more than 1,000 Wind Crest residents and staff. This festive, two-hour even will include a Mariachi Band. Winning restaurants (1 st , 2 nd and 3 rd place) will receive trophies and earn bragging rights for having the best Green Chili in in the state.

Charlestown Residents/Staff to "Walk Across America" in September

Wind Crest Model Railroad Club is Preserving Colorado's History

HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO (July 14, 2014) - The Wind Crest Model Railroad Club in Highlands Ranch is preserving Colorado's history by building a  miniature replica of the Gilpin Tram Railroad that serviced the early mines above Blackhawk and Central City from the late 1800's until it ended operation in 1917. This Gilpin Tram 2 foot gauge line served the early mines by bringing the ore from the mines to various processing mills in Blackhawk.
