Wind Crest Teams with Interfaith Community Services to Support Thanksgiving Program

November 13, 2012

HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO---What's the power of 62 cans of green beans, 27 boxes of stuffing and 79 cans of soup and broth?
They were 168 of the grand total of 1,071 items collected and donated by residents and employees of Wind Crest retirement community to Interfaith Community Services (IFCS) of Englewood.
Coordinated by the Erickson Living Values Team, Wind Crest aimed to support IFCS's Thanksgiving Baskets Program.  IFCS has established a 2012 seasonal goal of eight hundred (800) food baskets for distribution to Denver-area families in need.
The nonperishable dry food and canned goods were collected in October and delivered in a truck provided by Wind Crest to the IFCS office in Englewood on November 2nd.
Rachel Koch, Administrative Assistant at Wind Crest, discussed the importance of taking on the project.  "There were many hours of loading, counting and sorting, but we all feel good about taking the time to go the extra mile for such a worthy cause as the Thanksgiving Baskets Program," described Ms. Koch.
"We also made it a fun event, even doing a Halloween themed-contest for employees who donated to the food drive," noted Ms. Koch.   "Special thanks to Craig Erickson, John Pitzer and Brian Remmick for their invaluable sharing of community resources."
