Windsor Run Hosts Groundbreaking Ceremony to Celebrate First Phase of Construction

Matthews, North Carolina—State and local leaders joined company officials for an official groundbreaking to celebrate the start of construction at Windsor Run, the Erickson Living continuing care retirement community under development in Matthews.

“Today marks a major milestone in the progress of Windsor Run,” stated Tom Senger, Director of Sales.  “Breaking ground for construction means we are on our way to meeting the growing demand for senior housing in North Carolina and providing a vibrant lifestyle to our Windsor Run Priority List members.  Seeing so many future residents in attendance makes today’s celebration even more rewarding for us.”

During the ceremony held on July 14 at the Windsor Run sales center, North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin presented Erickson Living Chief Executive Officer Alan Butler with a license certificate.

This license paves the way for construction to begin on the first phase of the project that will include 216 independent living apartment residences with over 30 floor plans and a 50,000 square foot clubhouse scheduled for completion in early 2018.  When fully developed, Windsor Run will have 900 residences and create more than 500 employment opportunities in health care, dining and senior living support services.

Mayor Jim Taylor provided welcome remarks on behalf of the Town of Matthews.

Dignitaries in attendance  included State Senator Jeff Tarte, State Representative William Brawley, Matthews Town Commissioners Chris Melton & John Urban, Matthews Town Manager Hazen Blodgett, Ms. Maddilyn Genovese representing U.S. Senator Thom Tillis and Kelly Barnhardt, Executive Director of the Matthews Chamber of Commerce.
