Neighbors Once Again at Ann's Choice

Ann's Choice residents

Linda Blum and Sheila Richman were neighbors at HeatherGate at Oxford Valley, a 55-plus community in Langhorne, Pa., when they decided to attend a luncheon together at Ann's Choice, an Erickson Senior Living community in Bucks County, Pa.

They were both overwhelmingly impressed by the community.

"After eating lunch, sales team members showed us around, and my only thought was, 'There's nothing not to like here!'" recalls Linda. "People were friendly and the accommodations are great. It was just a great experience."

Sheila agrees. "After the luncheon, we asked each other, 'What don't you like about it?' And we both replied, 'Nothing!' We talked about our visit the entire drive home. I called Linda afterward and told her I had already written my check. I was that sure about my decision to move."

Linda and Sheila moved to Ann's Choice within weeks of each other in June and July 2023, eager to start enjoying the maintenance-free lifestyle, on-site health care, and an array of top-notch amenities--just a few of the many reasons why retirees are deciding to make the move to Ann's Choice!

Peace of mind

Drawn to the community's affordable pricing structure and convenient on-site care, it felt like a natural fit for the friends to move to Ann's Choice.

"I was looking toward the future, wanting a forever home, and for a way to save money. I was especially impressed by the 90% refundable entrance deposit* at Ann's Choice," explains Sheila, who was previously renting an apartment.

The 90% refundable entrance deposit, which secures the apartment home of your choosing, goes back to you or your beneficiaries, if or when you leave the community.

"It's comforting to know that my investment could take a burden off of my kids at a later date," Sheila says.

Linda was primarily focused on the peace of mind she would gain by choosing a continuing care retirement community. Now, like many of her neighbors, she appreciates having access to additional levels of health care on site.

In the future, should a resident's needs ever change, these services are available right within the community they already call home.

"I felt that moving to Ann's Choice would provide everything I need, especially the health care," notes Linda. "Moving here meant that I wouldn't have to depend on my children or ask them to take care of me, heaven forbid, if necessary."

Activities galore

Neighbors once again, Linda and Sheila frequently meet up for games of Rummikub and meals at on-campus restaurants, which serve delicious, made-to-order meals every day.

"I love how all the buildings here are connected via climate-controlled walkways," says Sheila. "It makes it easy to meet up or visit each other's apartment homes, no matter the weather."

Linda and Sheila have also appreciated the opportunity to make even more friends through the wide variety of clubs, groups, and activities at Ann's Choice.

"I've started going to a few events, and hope to go to more as I settle in," says Linda. "I'm still in the honeymoon phase, trying to acclimate myself, but I'm loving it!"

Linda has really enjoyed Brain Builders, a group that plays games and solves puzzles designed to keep your memory sharp, whereas Sheila has taken to the Yes, No, Maybe Club.

"I love the Yes, No, Maybe Club!" says Sheila. "Each meeting, they provide a question for discussion. Each person speaks about whether they agree or disagree with the question. At the last meeting I went to, there were about 30 people in the room. It was so interesting."

Like Linda, Sheila is still settling into her apartment home, but that hasn't stopped her from previewing the community's long list of activities. "I'm eager to attend some of the Second Time Around Band's performances. They sound great during rehearsals!" she notes.

'Very happy'

Reinvigorated by their move and the start of a new year, Linda and Sheila are embracing an active, worry-free lifestyle.

"I'm very happy with my decision to move here. All of my expectations have been met. I'm just having a good time here!" says Sheila. "We like doing things separately, but we also enjoy spending time together. Believe it or not, we're seeing each other more now than we did at HeatherGate."

She adds, "And, of course, we tell everybody about Ann's Choice so they'll move here too!"
