According to the United States Census Bureau, the population of Loudoun County, Va., has grown by 30% over the last decade. Mirroring this trend, Ashby Ponds, an Erickson Senior Living community in Ashburn, Va., is witnessing an increased demand for the vibrant, active lifestyle it offers.

To meet this demand, Ashby Ponds opened Harpers Mill, the community's newest independent living residence building. It boasts 110 stylish apartment homes that feature open layouts, modern finishes, and custom flooring and light fixtures.

"The opening of a new residence building is always an exciting time," says Sales Manager Marjean Stevens. "And the opening of Harpers Mill is especially meaningful, as it's the second-to-last residence building coming to Ashby Ponds."

Recently, Stevens played an instrumental role in helping more than 150 retirees move into the new building.

"We're meeting with a record number of people this summer," she says. "Everyone is eager to claim one of Ashby Ponds' final apartment homes!"

Popular features

In the planning stages of each new residence building, Ashby Ponds evolves its offerings based on feedback from both current and future residents.

As a result, Harpers Mill was built to feature a selection of the community's most popular floor plans, such as the Radcliffe and the Stratford. These extra large two-bedroom, two-bath floor plans include plenty of natural light and spacious walk-in closets--meeting the desire for more storage space for suitcases and holiday decorations.

Regardless of whether you choose a one- or two-bedroom layout, all apartment homes at Ashby Ponds include contemporary kitchens with quartz countertops and stainless steel appliances and full-size, side-by-side washers and dryers. Many will also feature a sunroom or screened porch.

In the loop

When Harpers Mill was announced to Ashby Ponds' Priority List last year, Stevens and the sales team were immediately inundated with positive responses.

"Word of mouth is a powerful tool," says Stevens. "Many Priority List members had heard amazing things from friends and family who already live here. Those personal reviews, on top of the new construction, generated a lot of interest."

In addition to receiving construction updates, Priority List members gain exclusive invitations to informational and social events, access to amenities, and the right of first refusal on apartment homes.

"Priority List members can also take advantage of the Live the Life program. It's an opportunity to spend a night or two in a furnished apartment home and experience the Ashby Ponds lifestyle as if you're a resident," explains Stevens. "You can dine with current residents at on-campus restaurants, participate in activities that interest you, and most importantly, make sure that our community is a good fit."

For those simply looking to learn more, Stevens recommends scheduling a visit at the Sales Center.

"It's a good first step. Sales appointments are pressure-free--we want everyone who comes in to know that we are here to provide information, advice, and resources," she says.

'A great place'

Stevens, who was recently promoted to her position as sales manager, has been with the popular community since it opened.

"I watched the first shovel break ground!" she recalls. "For the last 17 years, I've worked with Priority List members and prospective residents to make their retirement dreams a reality."

She continues, "I love my job! I get to help seniors live better lives. Seeing new residents glow with excitement when they get the keys to their new home, foster meaningful friendships with neighbors, and pick up hobbies they haven't pursued in years is so rewarding."

What motivated Stevens to stay at Ashby Ponds all these years is the community's culture.

"Working at Ashby Ponds is like spending time with family," she says. "Everyone on the sales team is always rooting for each other, and you'll find the same dynamic across all the departments here. Ashby Ponds is truly a great place to live and work."

Don't wait!

As the community's newest residents settle into their apartment homes at Harpers Mill, Stevens encourages anyone considering a move to schedule an appointment or a tour of campus.

"Come visit us! A sales team member is more than happy to answer your questions or show you around," she says. "But don't wait. With our modern apartment homes and industry-leading amenities, demand for these last two residence buildings is at an all-time high."

Stevens also recommends joining the Priority List to ensure you get your desired floor plan.

"The $1,000 deposit is fully refundable, if you decide that Ashby Ponds isn't right for you," she explains. "There's nothing to lose!"
