Independent Living vs. Continuing Care

Whether you’re a Northern Virginia senior looking to live independently or seeking a higher level of health care like assisted living—Ashby Ponds has you covered.

Which lifestyle option is right for you?

Independent Living

Enjoy the independent life you’re used to, plus additional benefits that you just won’t find in a house. With amenities like the pool and fitness center—not to mention clubs like yoga and tai chi—you can stay active in mind, body, and spirit.

Without the hassles of house maintenance and repairs, you’re free to pursue your interests, meet new people, and spend more time with family and friends. In fact, many Ashby Ponds residents say that life here is more active and independent than living alone in a house.

You’ll have access to an on-site medical center, as well as outpatient rehabilitation. Should you ever require assisted living or a higher level of health care, you can transition to our continuing care neighborhood. Read more about independent living.

Hear a resident describe the peace of mind he values at the community.

Continuing Care

Located on the grounds of our 132-acre Loudoun County campus, the continuing care neighborhood offers assisted living, memory care, and nursing care in addition to post-acute rehabilitation.

We employ a trained and compassionate staff—so you can be assured that the care you receive is the best care around. Each resident benefits from a personalized care plan, one-on-one attention, and engaging programing.

For optimal health—environment is key. That’s why our continuing care neighborhood is designed to create a warm, homelike atmosphere. Meals are prepared by an Ashby Ponds chef and served at on-site, family-style dining rooms, where residents meet and socialize.

Independent living residents can make the transition to continuing care should the need arise. However, you don’t have to be a resident of Ashby Ponds to receive continuing care here. Read more about continuing care.
