"I wanted a vibrant community full of activities," says Judy Miao. And she found just what she was looking for at Cedar Crest, an Erickson Senior Living community in Pompton Plains, N.J.

"My interest in athletics has been a full-time pursuit here," she notes. "I am back playing pickleball, and I love going to aqua aerobics and water volleyball."

With maintenance-free apartment homes that create more time for pursuing hobbies and interests, it's no wonder why residents like Judy are going to be booked and busy in the new year!

Worry-free living

Since moving to Cedar Crest in 2022, Judy has made the most of her worry-free lifestyle.

Thanks to the convenient and predictable monthly service package, which covers everything from appliance repairs and utilities to a meal plan at on-site restaurants, she's been able to explore the community's long list of activities.

For Judy, Cedar Crest's range of on-site amenities--including a fully staffed medical center--meant that her family would be worry-free too.

"I did not want my relatives, friends, or neighbors to ever have to worry about my care, if or when I needed it," Judy says. "I also did not want to wait to move until I began to have health issues."

Now, Judy is enjoying peace of mind in a caring environment with her beloved feline friends, Amelia and Finnegan.

"I wanted a forever home for me and my cats," she notes. "We found our forever home at Cedar Crest!"

Friends and fun

For more than six years, Patricia "Pat" Cirincion has been soaking up the free time that her maintenance-free apartment home affords her--free time she didn't have when she was in her old house.

"I could no longer take care of the house by myself," she says. "After two visits to Cedar Crest, I rounded up the family and let them know, 'This is where I want to be.' My family all agreed."

Now, instead of dealing with snow or ice, Pat focuses on friends and fun.

"The residents are like my second family. I have a group of friends and I'm on the bocce team, so I'm looking forward to another great year of bocce ball," she says. "It's always great to be positive and open to new things. And at Cedar Crest, there's always something out there to try!"

On the horizon

In addition to their worry-free lifestyle, Judy and Pat cite another reason why their excitement for 2024 is shining so bright: planned upgrades across the community.

"This year is going to be packed with new programs, amenities, and activities," says Sales Director Ray Guarino. "Residents and staff alike are looking forward to seeing the renovations come to life."

Judy adds, "Greenleaf Court and Woodland Commons, where I live, are getting a makeover. We can hardly wait! And the new expanded fitness room at Woodland Commons will be a welcome site--and sight."

Also coming to Woodland Commons is a fast-casual restaurant and a golf simulator in a state-of-the-art virtual room.

"Plus, we now have indoor pickleball so people can play year-round. That program has really grown," notes Guarino. "If I had to pick one word to describe 2024, it would be 'togetherness.' Cedar Crest residents and staff come together around all sorts of activities and events, forming a tight-knit community. With all these new features coming, we'll be closer than ever before!"

More accessibility

Like Cedar Crest, Erickson Senior Living's vision for 2024 is all about growth and opportunity.

By investing over $500 million in upgrades and renovations to its existing communities across the country, Erickson will continue to provide thousands of seniors with the amenities and services they need to enjoy a fulfilling retirement.

"These enhancements will also focus on accessibility," notes Guarino. "At Cedar Crest, the Hear Here audio-assist technology has been a great addition to our Interfaith Chapel, Performing Arts Center, and other areas around the community. It's enabled even more residents to pursue new activities."

'Above and beyond'

For many residents, Cedar Crest's connection to Erickson Senior Living's financial strength, expertise, and vibrant culture enhance their positive outlook on the new year. That experience includes over 40 years of operational excellence, which isn't possible without the support of thousands of team members nationwide.

"The employees make Cedar Crest so special," Judy says. "You bet that they go above and beyond to care for us. Everyone at Cedar Crest makes living here so easy, for which I am eternally grateful."
