Cedar Crest

Looking for a new career path with a company that cares about your well-being and your future? Cedar Crest, an Erickson Senior Living-managed community in Pompton Plains, N.J., offers team members a generous, unique package of attractive benefits, including paid leave, health insurance, retirement, and health and well-being incentives, while supporting personal career goals.

"Employees flourish and grow their careers here at Cedar Crest when taking advantage of our benefits," says Cedar Crest Human Resources Director Cynthia McHugh. "Our substantial, affordable medical, dental, and vision plans help employees stay on top of their health and well-being."

Employees can track wellness and enhance their work-life balance through the Wellness Fund, Health Advocate app, and MDLIVE telehealth.

Since 1983, our growing, nationwide network of communities has delivered on our mission—helping people live better lives. As one of the most respected names in senior living, those driven to make a difference thrive, every day, in Erickson careers.

"Embracing the culture, team members use their passions and talents to help residents and colleagues live better lives," said Nicole Walker, vice president of human resources. "Erickson Senior Living recognizes the invaluable contributions employees make, providing a robust package of benefits reflecting our commitment to financial stability, health and well-being, and work-life balance."

Cedar Crest's comprehensive rewards go beyond typical employee benefits, including tuition reimbursement, company-matched 401Ks, generous paid time off, online training, advancement opportunities, on-site employee health and well-being centers, discount programs, pet insurance, and more!

"Here at Cedar Crest, we support and encourage our employees to further their education and training toward favored career paths, with training opportunities and tuition assistance," McHugh says. "Employee career goals often become a reality, with many starting in high school and maturing into other positions."

Karolina Zgiet started at Cedar Crest in 2012 as a 15-year-old student server in the Overlook Dining Room, moving up through many positions, including peer trainer and host.

"I stayed at Cedar Crest throughout high school and college and was going to leave after graduation," Karolina says. "Instead, I was offered the operations associate position, which I started in 2019."

She has since moved through human resources, home support, and resident life into the community resources coordinator position. Karolina then took advantage of Erickson's tuition reimbursement assistance to start her MBA. She became Intermissions Program Coordinator for about a year. She finished her MBA in December 2022 and, in mid-2023, moved into sales and marketing as a sales associate.

Erickson employee benefits helped enhance Karolina's life. As a part-time dining department employee, Karolina was able to sign up for health insurance, which she has taken advantage of ever since.

"I also signed up for my 401k retirement account," Karolina says. "I am very thankful for the support from Cedar Crest, which alleviated some financial costs."

Karolina also appreciates her paid time off, which has allowed her time for travel, friends, family, or simple rest and relaxation.

Erickson Senior Living offers unique awards to help team members like Karolina bring their best selves to work daily, including Annual Well-Being Visits, complimentary check-ups, free access to wellness workshops, fitness challenges, health trackers, and more.

For employees enrolled in an Erickson Senior Living medical plan, the Wellness Fund offers up to $260 toward personal wellness expenses, including exercise equipment, fitness classes, athletic shoes, and weight loss programs. Plus, MDLIVE provides opportunities to connect with licensed therapists.

Karolina enjoys on-campus programs, including meditation, yoga, and Zumba, and has used wellness funds for a gym membership. Celebrating her 12-year mark with Cedar Crest this year, Karolina likes working at Cedar Crest for many reasons.

"I grew up here and have made so many lifelong friends!" she says. "Most of my closest friends started in dining and now work in finance, human resources, and programming. I love that Cedar Crest provides opportunities such as growth and advancement, engaging us in many ways, including employee events, scholarship funds, and staff appreciation bonuses."
