Devonshire, the Erickson Senior Living community at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., is celebrating its silver anniversary this summer!

"The excitement here is palpable," says Executive Director Brad Andrus. "We have a lineup of fantastic events planned."

While Devonshire has witnessed a lot of change in the last 25 years, one thing remains the same: its vibrant, caring atmosphere.

"What strikes me--and anyone who has visited Devonshire--the most is the engaging, friendly people who call Devonshire home," says Andrus. "For over two decades, community members have started numerous clubs and activities; dazzled us with their talents in concerts, plays, and art galleries; and graciously volunteered their time in our local community. That's what makes Devonshire so special."

Investing in the future

Many of the most notable upgrades have happened in the last few years, as Erickson Senior Living provided a multimillion-dollar investment to support the addition of enhanced amenities and services in its communities across the country.

Devonshire's clubhouse--a 65,000-square-foot epicenter of community life--is in the process of being renovated. With strides toward a new lounge area, refreshed entrances to all five community restaurants, and reimagined sales and marketing offices, Devonshire is truly buzzing with energy.

"We work diligently to update our buildings and amenities to meet the needs of current and future community members," explains Andrus. "Their feedback gives our projects direction."

'Fresh and beautiful'

Shirley Diuro, who recently celebrated 15 years living at the community, is impressed with the community's improvements.

"Everything looks so fresh and beautiful," she says. "I'm excited about all the new activities and amenities, too. Not a day goes by where there isn't something going on here!"

And there's lots more to come, Andrus says. This year, new health and fitness options, including a golf simulator, indoor pickleball, a croquet and putting green, and exercise classes, will be added.

"We're also introducing a new IT Tech Bar, designed to assist community members with any of their electronic devices," he says. "Our lecture series with Florida Atlantic University is really popular, so we look forward to offering even more presentations in 2024."

So much to do

Bob and Joan Frasier, Devonshire community members since 2013, are happy to see the community more lively than ever before.

"Even after ten years, Devonshire continues to be a vibrant, engaging community--and we couldn't be happier!" says Bob. "There are tons of healthy food options, exercise classes, opportunities for lifelong learning, and ways to express yourself creatively."

Newer community members--like Linda and Harvey Caplan, who moved to Devonshire in 2021--are making the most of these refreshed amenities and activities as well.

"Devonshire far surpasses our expectations," says Harvey. "We love that we are no longer responsible for maintenance and repairs. Instead, we have plenty of time to enjoy lots of activities and make new friends."

"Meeting new people is the best part about Devonshire!" says Linda. "We have never had such a wide array of friends and things to do."

Time to celebrate

Shirley, Bob, Joan, Harvey, and Linda are among hundreds of community members ready to celebrate over two decades of growth and change.

"June 15 through 22 will be our anniversary week," says Andrus. "It's rapidly approaching!"

A host of small celebrations will occur throughout the week, leading up to a campus-wide cocktail party on June 22.

"Community members are really looking forward to the cocktail party and the visiting entertainment from all around Orlando," he adds. "These events will create opportunities to reflect on the past and look forward to the years ahead."

Words of advice

As community members anticipate Devonshire's silver anniversary, the sales team continues to meet with a record number of retirees--all eager to embrace an engaging, worry-free lifestyle.

"Our advice to others is: don't wait!" says Linda. "The sooner you move, the sooner you'll be able to enjoy all the activities and events Devonshire offers."

Bob couldn't agree more. "Devonshire is like one big, loving family--a family that will continue to grow as more people learn about the lifestyle and amenities here."
